Its another year again, and this year's Chinese New Year event we share our joy and blessings with 80 needy families from 2 schools in Pandamaran, Port Klang. Discussions were held much earlier, thanks to Team GOC who had been dealing with the school for few years, it makes things much easier. We held our event at SRJKC Pandamaran B, Klang. The teachers from both schools - Pandamaran 'A' and 'B' were much helpful to get the families in. I have to salute the teachers who put so much efforts to ensure the families come. Prior to the starting of the event, I still see them on phone trying to contact the families. Our usual morning breakfast at Tesco imprinted a good lesson learnt this time - count your trolleys. I accidentally left 1 trolley with 12 bags of rice, and end up owing two volunteers a big meal!!! Luckily, the 12 bags were still there! Event started on time, with the queues well organised.
Not forgetting the many volunteers who have contributed in many ways - from finding cookies made by poor familes, getting quotations for mushrooms / Chinese herbs, and the final part - delivery. Nothing gets done without the great team work. Our sponsors too, who donated generously for the event which allow our recipients to have a good celebration. Meanwhile, on the other side of the hall, our sister NGO Love Joy Association had their free market for the families as well. Lots of items were given away although the reception was not so good. TQ volunteers from Melaka, Kajang, Serdang and sponsors from Kedah who made it for the event.
Wishing all a good health, happiness and wealth in the Year of the Rat!

Back to School #1.1, Port Klang - Dec 2019
... continuation of last week event.
BTS #1.1 continuation for Port Klang. Due to heavy rain last week, the 5 kids from Pulau Indah didn't make it. Pn Fidah also asked if it's possible to support for orang asli kids. Managed to get additional funding for 5 more kids. Thank you all for the contribution and volunteers who came and help out. Billion supermarket also kind enough to give the kids goody bags. As we say our goodbyes, the kids were smiling with the new uniforms and bags, and that smile, you can't buy with money.
Back to School #2, Sg Buloh - Dec 2019
Back To School #2 completed for 10 kids from Sg Buloh. Heavy rain and crowded shop took us one and half hour to select the uniforms. Shop was over crowded with parents buying school uniforms and payment queue was super long. Once the purchasing was done, we proceed to an Indian restaurant for early dinner and distribution of school bags and colour pencils. At the restaurant, one of the mother was shy to order, as she said that 'goreng goreng mahal'. I guess what is normal for us, is not normal for them as it's a luxury for them to eat out. The husband is a security guard, and with 6 kids, his pay is never enough especially when comes to year end school uniforms. I'm grateful the uniforms are settled for the family (TQ sponsors) and with monthly groceries settled by Koppal's sponsors. Again, many thanks to sponsors to solve their yearly year end headache. Many thanks to uncle Koppal for arranging the logistics
Back to School #1, Port Klang - Dec 2019
Back To School #1 completed... without some of the children. Only 9 sets of uniform were purchased. Another 5+3 children's parents were uncontactable.....#facepalm. We waited over an hour, and keep calling but unable to reach them. So will arrange another date and time for the children, else will see any orphanage that need help. The children are well mannered and discipline and it helps us in getting the clothing for them. Additional items such as bags, pencil box, biscuits from Lisa were also given. Many thanks to sponsors and volunteers for helping out. Looking forward for tomorrow's Part 2 at Sg Buloh.
