Visit to Persatuan Insan Istimewa Cheras - Aug 2015

We visited Persatuan Insan Istimewa Cheras today, a home that provide shelter to 30 children that are OKU. The home was established in 2009 and has been operational for 6 years. Youngest tenant is 10yo, while oldest is 45yo. We purchased required groceries and head on to the home and spend some time with the tenants. The kids were really happy to see us coming, and based on the photos, you know they need attention and human interaction. Its really means a lot to them when we spend time with them and you can see and feel it from their laughters and smiles.

Rental was recently raised from RM1300 to RM1800, which has prompt the care taker to look for sponsors to get their own premises. Hence, they are looking for sponsors that are willing to help them raise fund or donate a land for the home purposes. The home's electricity bill is about RM500+ monthly, while water bill is about RM200-300. The tenants finish a bag of rice (10kg) a day, while for adult diapers, they only wear at night.

For this project, we spent RM751.90 - RM201.90 (diapers) + RM250 for groceries + RM300 TNB (pending caretaker to WhatsApp the bill). Again, many thanks for the sponsors who have contributed to the fund for the benefits of the many needy homes that in need. With current economy situation, it is expected tougher times ahead. But I believe we will still be able to help many unfortunate ones. For those who are living nearby, hope you can drop by this home and help in any way you can.

We collected the necessary item and most of the items are sponsored by well wishers. Thanks to Jeff for sponsoring the white boards and also his friend, Alex who donated the washing machine. Also thanks to the Transporter, who managed fit the big items into the ROV.

We departed from Klang and reach Port Dickson around 12pm. Dr Azma and Roshidah already arrived much earlier and we were greeted by Pastor Paul and Katherine. When we arrived, the children just came back from morning mass, and also was having their lunch.

Children's room

One for the album and you can see the happy faces and cheekiness. TQ to all donors who help to make a difference in their daily lives!
We were told that just the night before, 2 families with a total of 10 kids were brought to the home, which make the total children 45 in the home. A big burden to the home. The home is currently rented at RM800, and fully paid by a Good Samaritan doctor. Like all other homes, donations are slow in the middle of the year, hence, if you want to visit the home, you can contact Pastor Katherine at 019-263-5810. The location of the home is located on the opposite side of Corus Hotel via small lane, going up hill. Address is Pt 2951, Batu 2, Jalan Pantai 71000, Port Dickson, NS.

The total amount spent for this project from 1M1c fund is RM513.00. All items are sponsored by the following donors :-
  1. Groceries from Ong Hock Joo & Wendy Chai
  2. 2 units of white board and stationery from Jeff Lim
  3. 3 units of iron from Dz Azma Abd Hamid & Roshidah
  4. Washing machine from Alex.
  5. Stationary from Huay Ying.
  6. Aerosol and detergent from Eliz Song.
  7. Groceries sponsored RM200 from Lillias Lim & Chua KP
  8. Melvin the "Transporter"...no Audi, but ROV is good enough!

My appreciation to all volunteers and sponsors for making a long journey with us, fulfilling the children's need. Thank you all for helping to make a difference.

Kids' Movie Day

With school holidays around the corner, the thought of bringing a home to see movies seems to be a good idea. After deciding which home to bring for movies, we start planning on the logistics. I was joined by joined by Yuva, Aishi, Jeff and Chewman. We had breakfast before proceeding to the home and our arrival was expected. First activity we did was to distribute the tags which the children were excited. Took almost 30 minutes to get the whole 26 of them!

Distributing the name tags

Cant wait to go out!

Camera shy is not the word here for sure!

Getting ready

Thanks Yuva for this!

The final output!

Tell me which kids wont get excited with Angry Mickeys? :)

Ready to go!

Not photo-shy at all

After to the movies, we also bring the children to McD for lunch. The children's Happy Meal comes with toys....and guess what, The Croods toys! :) One funny thing was, we went into the cinemas, watch the movie and come out..... without taking any photos! Probably because we dont want to take photo the Croods way! (You have to watch the movie to understand what I am trying to say here)

This image will have to do.....

The kids were immerse into setting up the toys after the meal. We spent the time playing with the kids and also spoke to Mr Muthu and understand the home's situation. The home requires what every other homes requires which is the basic groceries.

Not an easy task for us either!

Heading home after makan...
We left McD about 330pm to head back to the home. Jeff dropped the children off at the home and proceed in getting the cake, while we spend time with the kids. I didnt know that we also have magicians among us.. ;)

Never camera shy at all.

Concentrating on the toy

Popular magician at work... a lot of encores!!!
The grand finale event was getting a birthday cake for the March birthday kids.We had 3 March birthday boys and girls for the celebration, and the appreciation goes to Jeff for getting a 3kg pandan cake for them.

Arrival of the cakeman...

I cant keep my eyes of you...
