Many thanks to Ben & friends who have sponsored additional groceries for the home. For more photos, check it out here.

Just for volunteers information, due to the area we need to cover, the usual large convoys of cars following tends to slow down as cars got stop in traffic lights and also housing area. Hence, I will be limiting a 2-3 car convoy to avoid getting lost and waiting and lots of phone calls finding lost cars. Appreciate your understanding on this.

Pusat Warga Emas, Klang - 2014 CNY Visit

The caretaker called to wish me a Happy Chinese New Year, and as its been awhile since our last visit, Jeff and myself dropped by with some groceries. We got them mostly vegetables, bags of potatoes, onions, curry powder and detergents.

The new wing of the home was recently built by contractors who have willingly to do it at minimal cost and the home pay whatever they can. There were additional 5 rooms (or 6?), which can fit in 4-6 person in the room.

Home address - landmark is near KFC Tmn Sentosa Klang

Again, thank you to sponsors and donors who have been donating to 1M1c fund for us to do project like this. Wishing you happy Chinese New Year and may the year of the Horse brings you good luck and good health! :)

Groceries For Homes - Jan 2014

We received 10 bags of 10kg rice, 4 packets of noodles and 6 bottles of  5kg cooking from an anonymous donor. All items were distributed to Pusat Jagaan Kanak-Kanak Istimewa Lagenda and also Pusat Kasih Sayang YWCA in Klang.  For both homes, I purchased additional groceries to compliment what was provided.

The well-mannered children rushed in to get into the photograph

Additional groceries purchased. Please call and ask what is needed as everyone seems to donate rice and cooking oil.. which become excess. Do purchased potatoes, sardines, flour, onions.

They were working when I was there. Some has gone home for the holidays. 15 ang pows were given to the special children

2013 Report

Its been an exciting and great year for us, with overdose of activities at certain weekends that hardly give our volunteers the time to rest. Nevertheless, I am sure everyone was happy when the work is completed and smiling faces all around. First and foremost, I would like to thank all donors and sponsors who have contributed their time and money to ensure all projects can be completed successfully. Without your support, we would not are able to achieve so many projects.

For 2013, we completed a total of 27 projects. The following are the summary of amount was received and utilised for the year :-

Total receiveable   RM30,002.46
Total expenses       RM28.104.30
Balance C/F           RM1898.16

Note : The amount does not include items donated by sponsors.

Project Summary
In the first quarter, we started our initial pilot project of providing groceries to the needies. With good response from the donors, we were able to sustain for the next 8 months till November 2013. Our little contribution of RM100 wont help to make their live better, but the least it would do is ease their burden for the month. Hopefully, we will be able to continue this project in 2014. For February, we provided some groceries to Pusat Penjagaan Kanak Kanak Cacat Klang.

In March, we organised a Kid's Movie Day for Anbe Sivam Orphanage for 26 children, and McDonald for tea break. We also visited Pertubuhan Kebajikan Kanak-kanak Yatim & Miskin Wawasan Port Dickson to provide groceries to the home in April.

After some absence from Kajang Home, we visited them again in May. In June, we do a joint project with our sister NGO, Project MADE for 26 poor families in SJKC Ming Tee, Kg Tiram Baru.

We also responded to an urgent request for groceries for St Judes Home in Shah Alam in July, and for the Syawal Feeding Program this year, we provided basic groceries to 100 families in PPR Bt Muda, Jalan Ipoh. It is an amazing feat by the team have collected items and funds to ensure all things fall into place due to the limited time frame we need to work on. We also provide some grocery relief to the poor in Kg Samy, Port Klang and to a home in Batu Pahat as when our volunteer goes outstation.

In September, we move further up to Sabak Bernam in our Groceries Program for the Needy for 50 families. We also visited Myanmar Refugee Home (United Learning Center) at Jalan Imbi. Special thanks to Domino Pizza for sponsoring the pizza for the children.

October was a busy month with visit to Persatuan Kebajikan WargaTua & Kanak Kanak K.L and also provide groceries to 60 needy families in PPR Muhibbah.  And for Deepavali, we had Reach Out (Wednesday Team) to sponsored groceries in conjunction with Deepavali for the needy families. In December, we did a Back To School Program 2013 which we provided school uniforms to 50 students in PPR Kota Damansara, and a final project to Kuantan flood victims before the year end.
It has been a very fruitful year for 1M1c and hats off to our volunteers who have put in much effort, time and money to ensure each and every project is completed successfully. In short, I would also like to thank our following sister NGOs for their invaluable support - Reach Out Malaysia, Together We Make A Difference, Hearts : Charity Beings From the Heart and Project MADE. This year, also a year of friendship and we meet a lot of new friends that are like minded and we were able to work together to benefit the society. :)

With the rising cost of living, its expected that things would be more difficult for everyone. While it would be hard for us - the middle class working people, but do bear in mind there are others that are in worse position than us. I do believe that with everyone contribute a small sum, collectively we will be able to make a difference. Hence, we do hope your contribution will keep coming in to help them. Again, thank you again to all our volunteers and sponsors for keeping 1M1c going for 4 years! Hope to see you in our events! :)

Chinese TCM providing free medical care
Traditional medication
Giving angpow and medical goody bag. TQ PhuiFatt Ong & Ruiting for this. She had tears in her eyes when I gave the angpow to her, and my reaction was the same, but still manage to 'turn off the tap'. Even though she is in her 80's, her mind is still very active.

The VIP uncle seems to know everyone in the high places, from Dr M to Tun Badawi. He talked for all the time we were there... Uncle Cheong paid him RM50 to clean up the compound and keep him busy..else, he goes on talking non-stop! All of us had our 'lecture' session upon coming down to the compound.. everyone seems to be too polite to walk off!
The final event was to give each of the old folks a medical goody bag and ang pow. While the goody bag and ang pow was unexpected, I can see from the reaction that they are more happy to have us talking to them. We hope readers that are staying nearby will pay a visit to the home to talk to them.

Total expenses used from 1M1c fund is as below :-

Expenses
Medical goody bag - RM625
Ang Pow - RM330 (RM10 x 33)

Total Expenses - RM955

Thank you to all volunteers who were there to help and contributed to the event. Again, thank you for the time spent with the old folks, as all they need is just someone to talk to at the end of the day.
