A few weeks back, I received a message from Mr. See and was offered
to bring an orphanage to their restaurant, Ali Cafe Tiga Rasa for a meal and it would be on the house! Now, who could resist a free meal? (Sorry, was referring to myself!) In order to identify the home, I look back at the list of homes that
1M1C had visited along the way, and decided that getting St Barnabas
Home kids to go would be a good choice since the last visit was some
time back (Aug 2010). I called up the caretaker, George to advised on
the date and we agreed to be on 16th June 2012.

All in 1 van! |
As I arrived at the home at 5:45pm, I was greeted by George and
Walter. I spoke to George way back in 2010 when we wanted to visit the
home for the first time, but never met him before. Walter is the driver for the 20 seater van to bring us to Subang. Originally, there were
19 kids for this trip, but short of 2 due to detention! ;( We were
accompany by 2 other caretakers. On the way up, George and I discussed
about the home's background and daily activities. The home started 15 years ago and can take a maximum of 25 kids.
Currently, it is has 19 kids age around 5 years old to 14 years old,
with the latest new kid on the block aged 5 years old, whom just arrived
last 2 week. Most of the kids here are from single parent. The kids are all in school now scattered across Klang and Walter drive the kids to school daily. Based on my discussion with George, they are looking for sponsors for
2013 Back To School Program. Hence, if there is anyone that is willing
to help out, please contact George at 017-320 6736.

Dinner time! |
When we arrived at Ali Cafe Tiga Rasa, we were greeted by the staff and the friendly
manager, Fendi and Jane. We were guided to our reserved table, and I
noticed the kids face lighted up and excited about dinner. We were given the menu for the night and we selected chicken chop for the adults and Nasi Lemak Ayam for the kids. Drinks were ice chocolate (Oligo) and desert was ice-cream. The mindful staffs put the chilis separately, but you
would be surprised to see how the kids finished up the chilis! :)

Happy faces... |
Fendi and team was very gracious to provide what we wanted, sadly I am on diet.. he he.. and the hospitality given to the kids was warm and friendly. As we ended the day, I was very glad to see their happy faces and they go back with full stomach. Perhaps its not frequent they get the opportunity to eat out and I can see they are very thankful to Ali Cafe for the dinner.
As we leave the restaurant, I am happy that I took them out for dinner. Looking at the sleepy faces on the way back, I couldnt feel that my life is very fortunate compared to many others. I hope our readers will reach out and support the homes, which are providing the kids a second chance in life to make a better of themselves and give them a little hope in humanity. Again, I would like to extend my appreciation to Ali Cafe Tiga Rasa (Mr See, Fendi, Jane and team) for sponsoring the dinner and making a difference.
