Raya Groceries Program (PPR Kg Muhibbah Puchong) - July 2016

2016/11 - We came here in 2013 and this would be our second visit.  It would have been another event, nothing new for the team. But as Murphy’s Law says, if things are going to go wrong, it will. So our adventure begin in the morning, started with the lorry arriving late, loading take sometime and as we ready to leave Klang, we were told that the tyre has punctured!

So, we were stuck in Klang, while the rest of team at location. Clock is ticking and we called up backup lorry to help out while first lorry was trying to fix the tyre. Meanwhile, at a balai raya far far away, the team decided to inform the recipients that the group will disperse and come back in the evening to pick up the groceries, which lucky there were stuff being transported by volunteers.

We waited quiet a while before we were told the lorry got stopped by highway police. After all the mess had been sorted out, unloading and loading of 80 bags of rice (actually 160 bags!) to second lorry was a breeze and we depart for location.

Finally, we arrived at location 3 hours late.. and unload the rice and eggs to the centre, for 5pm distribution. Many thanks to all the volunteers who man the fort while waiting for lorry to arrived. See you in our next event!

Visit to Persatuan Insan Istimewa Cheras - Aug 2015

We visited Persatuan Insan Istimewa Cheras today, a home that provide shelter to 30 children that are OKU. The home was established in 2009 and has been operational for 6 years. Youngest tenant is 10yo, while oldest is 45yo. We purchased required groceries and head on to the home and spend some time with the tenants. The kids were really happy to see us coming, and based on the photos, you know they need attention and human interaction. Its really means a lot to them when we spend time with them and you can see and feel it from their laughters and smiles.

Rental was recently raised from RM1300 to RM1800, which has prompt the care taker to look for sponsors to get their own premises. Hence, they are looking for sponsors that are willing to help them raise fund or donate a land for the home purposes. The home's electricity bill is about RM500+ monthly, while water bill is about RM200-300. The tenants finish a bag of rice (10kg) a day, while for adult diapers, they only wear at night.

For this project, we spent RM751.90 - RM201.90 (diapers) + RM250 for groceries + RM300 TNB (pending caretaker to WhatsApp the bill). Again, many thanks for the sponsors who have contributed to the fund for the benefits of the many needy homes that in need. With current economy situation, it is expected tougher times ahead. But I believe we will still be able to help many unfortunate ones. For those who are living nearby, hope you can drop by this home and help in any way you can.

Groceries For the Needies - Sabak Bernam, Sept 2013

The event was planned after Hari Raya with total of 50 needy families located in Sabak Bernam that has been identified earlier. An appeal for fund was raised via Facebook and we reached the target within a short time. All items were purchased and pre-packed prior to the event, and logistics were a concern due to the large amount of items but was resolved with the van from Reach Out. On the morning of 14th September 2013, we embarked on another journey to help the needies. And I always grateful to have friends and supporters who have make this journey a succesful one, and this one is no different.

Thank you!

My heartiest appreciation to Dr Azma/Roshida who gave us an opportunity to help the needy families, and not forgetting all sponsors, donors and contributors who have donated cash and kind, resources and time as without your tremendous support, we will not be able to do activities like this. The responds and contribution were quick, generous and come from places that I never thought of. For that, I thank you on behalf of the recipients for giving them a breather for this month. Thank you to all volunteers who have attended and the support. As Dr Azma highlighted in her speech, our little contribution cant help them in the long run, but to ease their burden for this month, as we do not want them to create a dependency on NGOs. Again, thank you to all for raising the fund which we only used partial that was raised (RM2281). The balance will be used for next month's project for 60 needy families.
