Grocery for the Needies @PPR Bt Muda Jalan Ipoh - Oct 2015

For October 2015,our original destination was Johan Setia, but due to last minute changes, we decided to change to PPR Batu Muda, Jalan Ipoh. This would be our third time here (including Free Market event). We worked with the committee for the list of 90 needy families. For this round, we were lucky that our rice sponsors decided to upgrade the rice from 5kg to 10kg! Many thanks to the group from Tratles.net.

We had a dozen of volunteers this round, which make things move very fast in terms of loading of the rice, but still its not easy to carry across the field. But with teamwork, we clear it out pretty fast!

90 packs of rice in nick of time.

Parking is a nightmare and we work real fast to clear it up for the traffic

I think this is the hardest job of all.. getting ppl IN LINE!

The other end - upon receiving their bounty

Helping out the recipients
We completed the distribution in about 1 hour and recipients went home happy. There are actually about 600-700 families there, but we only manage to do 90 families which is only a fraction of the population here. Looking at the current economy climate, we hope other NGOs will also provide some help to the needy families. Again, many thanks to all the sponsors and volunteers who have made a difference in their life.

Visit to Persatuan Penjagaan Kanak-Kanak Terencat Akal Negeri Selangor (Banting) - Sept 2015

We found this home through Facebook appeal for groceries. However, upon checking, the caretaker Mr Chan inform us that there has been a lot of donations of groceries (dry goods) till November. Hence, its important to check what are the items they need before you proceed to the home. There were request for electrical items and also grass cutter - which was purchased and delivered to the home earlier. As there are enough dry groceries, we decided not to buy groceries but to buy pizza for the tenant. There were also sponsors of chocolates and candies. We also take a copy of their TNB which comes to about RM2000 monthly.

Visit to Persatuan Insan Istimewa Cheras - Aug 2015

We visited Persatuan Insan Istimewa Cheras today, a home that provide shelter to 30 children that are OKU. The home was established in 2009 and has been operational for 6 years. Youngest tenant is 10yo, while oldest is 45yo. We purchased required groceries and head on to the home and spend some time with the tenants. The kids were really happy to see us coming, and based on the photos, you know they need attention and human interaction. Its really means a lot to them when we spend time with them and you can see and feel it from their laughters and smiles.

Rental was recently raised from RM1300 to RM1800, which has prompt the care taker to look for sponsors to get their own premises. Hence, they are looking for sponsors that are willing to help them raise fund or donate a land for the home purposes. The home's electricity bill is about RM500+ monthly, while water bill is about RM200-300. The tenants finish a bag of rice (10kg) a day, while for adult diapers, they only wear at night.

For this project, we spent RM751.90 - RM201.90 (diapers) + RM250 for groceries + RM300 TNB (pending caretaker to WhatsApp the bill). Again, many thanks for the sponsors who have contributed to the fund for the benefits of the many needy homes that in need. With current economy situation, it is expected tougher times ahead. But I believe we will still be able to help many unfortunate ones. For those who are living nearby, hope you can drop by this home and help in any way you can.

Syawal Groceries For the Needies @Sabak Bernam - June 2015

Time flies when you are doing things that you enjoy doing. Again, one Raya has passed. Its just like yesterday when we did the Syawal groceries program at PPR Batu Muda at Jalan Ipoh  during last year's fasting month. Its no different from this year and this year, we go to rural area which is Sabak Bernam, Kuala Selangor.

Our usual modus operandi apply and we meet up at our first checkpoint - at IPD Kuala Selangor. The team were punctual and we managed to depart on time. Journey was smooth but hit a few bumps and it is more stressful for those volunteers carrying the eggs in their vehicles! Anyway, journey took almost one hour from IPD. It was a hot and sunny day and you can imagine how bored the journey would be .... if not for some fun over the walkie-talkie!

Rice awaiting us when we arrived. Pre-paid the rice nowadays to ease our backs!
