Grocery for the Needies @Bahau, N9 - Oct 2016

2016/15 - Yes!! We complete our 2016 Oct event with providing groceries for 100 needy families in Bahau. The event was held at SMK Bahau 2, 11am 23Oct2016. We arrived about 1045am with unloading activities goes into full swing. As we enter the hall, we were greeted with well organised 6 registration counters, and all of the recipients were already waiting for us. I believe its one of the best organised registration process we had seen. The list of recipients and schools as below:-

i) SMK Bahau (29)
ii) SMK Bahau2 (10)
iii) SMK Bandar Baru Serting (10)
iv) Sekitar Kompleks Rakan Muda Jempol (11)
v) Kariah Madrasah Sirathal Mustqum, Kg Geddes (20)
vi) Kariah Masjid Rahmaniah Bahau (20)

We were caught in the typical protocol - stage, speech and sofa :) I know I am going to get stuck at the stage (with Dr Azma Abd Hamid beside me!) and wont be able to join the distribution line but I believe that the volunteers knows what to do. Great job guys! :) The event started with prayers by the Ustaz, followed by the speech by HM, who had shared his vision to all that through education, everyone can escape poverty, with himself as an example. He highlighted that poverty defies race and religion, and I couldn’t agree more on this, which I believe this is the main reason we are there today.

We complete the distribution in about 45 minutes and proceed for group photos and lunch. TQVM SMK Bahau2 for the great hospitality and also teachers to came today to ensure the event is smooth. Also not forgetting the sponsors and all volunteers who have joined us today! :)

Grocery for the Needies @Bukit Lancong, Seksyen 27 Shah Alam

2016/14 - For Sept 2016, our Grocery For Needy Program brings the necessary grocery to 30 families in Bukit Lancong Shah Alam. Our usual contact, Dr Azma & Roshidah contact the village head to identify the families for the program. Just like every village, there are bound to have poor families and needies. Our program also bring us to the part of the town that we never been before.

Many thanks to sponsors and volunteers who have help to purchased the groceries and providing all the support.

If you think you want to help the village, please contact me and I will link you up with the necessary contact.

Grocery for the Needies @Teratak Kasih Bonda, Tampin

2016/13 - Our project for Aug 2016 bring us to Teratek Kasih Bonda, Tampin@N9. The lovely place is well hidden away from the main road and you would have easily missed the entrance. The house itself is a 100 years old house with its unique design.
For this project, we worked with the NGO Sedekah Subuh, who handles the community welfare cases which covers Melaka & N9. Cases that are in severe needs are referred to them to provide the necessary assistance. The event place is also a monthly gathering of the poor families for community activities. For this event, 100 needy families are the recipients of this program.
We rendezvous at Simpang Ampat toll, and proceed to location. Road is narrow but when there is a will, there is a way. So, we manage to unload everything and get things moving. The host, already pre-plan the registration, hence recipients just need to provide the token to receive the groceries.
Lastly, my appreciation to sponsor and volunteers from both sides for ensuring the event were smoothly. Not forgetting our sister NGO Sedekah Subuh for providing the place (and lunch! Superb kuih!!) for the event.
Post event, we get chance to 'clean up' the rambutan tree...direct from the rambutan trees! Judging from the faces of volunteers, I think they enjoy plucking the rambutans! Guess next event must plan for kampung again! And last but not least, dedicate this to the our volunteers….

Raya Groceries Program (PPR Kg Muhibbah Puchong) - July 2016

2016/11 - We came here in 2013 and this would be our second visit.  It would have been another event, nothing new for the team. But as Murphy’s Law says, if things are going to go wrong, it will. So our adventure begin in the morning, started with the lorry arriving late, loading take sometime and as we ready to leave Klang, we were told that the tyre has punctured!

So, we were stuck in Klang, while the rest of team at location. Clock is ticking and we called up backup lorry to help out while first lorry was trying to fix the tyre. Meanwhile, at a balai raya far far away, the team decided to inform the recipients that the group will disperse and come back in the evening to pick up the groceries, which lucky there were stuff being transported by volunteers.

We waited quiet a while before we were told the lorry got stopped by highway police. After all the mess had been sorted out, unloading and loading of 80 bags of rice (actually 160 bags!) to second lorry was a breeze and we depart for location.

Finally, we arrived at location 3 hours late.. and unload the rice and eggs to the centre, for 5pm distribution. Many thanks to all the volunteers who man the fort while waiting for lorry to arrived. See you in our next event!
