Syawal Groceries For the Needies @Sabak Bernam - June 2015

Time flies when you are doing things that you enjoy doing. Again, one Raya has passed. Its just like yesterday when we did the Syawal groceries program at PPR Batu Muda at Jalan Ipoh  during last year's fasting month. Its no different from this year and this year, we go to rural area which is Sabak Bernam, Kuala Selangor.

Our usual modus operandi apply and we meet up at our first checkpoint - at IPD Kuala Selangor. The team were punctual and we managed to depart on time. Journey was smooth but hit a few bumps and it is more stressful for those volunteers carrying the eggs in their vehicles! Anyway, journey took almost one hour from IPD. It was a hot and sunny day and you can imagine how bored the journey would be .... if not for some fun over the walkie-talkie!

Rice awaiting us when we arrived. Pre-paid the rice nowadays to ease our backs!

Weather was between super hot and cloudy, but most of us were drenched in our sweat.

Almost done!

Thanks to all for the collective efforts which ensure all groceries items were delivered to the intended recipients. From collection, packing, purchasing and delivery, it was done smoothly and efficiently. Many thanks to the team who spent their Sunday and appreciation to our Muslim volunteers who braved the hot sun and long journey to ensure the event is successful. Again, many thanks to all who have spent their Sunday for this event.

Kid's Movie Day @ HELP Community Center, Kepong - May 2015

It has been awhile since we last visited the school. The last visit was in May 2014 in providing exercise books, food and 2 TV. For this visit, Gary had requested what are the items required at the school which was marker pens and refills, and also 4 broken toilet doors. The students has increased to 140 which includes Pakistanis as well. Most of the children has left Malaysia after their application has been approved and we wish them well in the new country ;)

For this visit, we did an in-house movie for the children. Thanks to the generousity of the sponsors, food, drinks and stationaries were also provided to the children. We had fried noodle, vitagen, nuggets, hot dogs, ice-cream and boxes of biscuits which will serve them well during the lunch break. The school needs a lot of biscuits to feed the children, and its also a way to get the children to come to school instead of loitering around the area.

Waiting for the movie to start...

We serve ice-cream in movies.. ;)

Visit to Madrasah Rohingya Refugee, Jalan Meru Klang - April 2015

For this visit, a joint effort with our partner in crime, #RepublikChenta.. (Love Republic!), where we are proving groceries for the home. The homes provide religious education for 90 over refugee children around the area. There are about 35 children staying overnight. The children goes back on the weekend and most of them stays around Meru, Kapar, Banting etc. As the number of children are a lot, there are always insufficient food for them hence the monthly appeal for food to the home. The home expenses is about RM10k a month.

We have specifically inform the administrator to remind them not to go back for this event as lunch will be provided. The home is currently rented at R1000 a month. RepublikChenta as raised the fund to purchase blankets, pillows and a fridge for the home! Many thanks to the generous donors!

Grocery For Needies Senawang, Negeri Sembilan - April 2015

Our adventure brings us to Senawang this round. The team depart early from Klang to Seremban for a quick breakfast, before heading to Giant Senawang. The target recipient are 50 needy families at Taman Jasmine in Senawang. Due to location problem, the event was held in Balai Raya Senawang Indah.

For this round, 5 volunteers were delegated to purchase 10 sets of groceries to lift the burden of purchasing by me..:P So, guess this would be our future modus operandi. Off course, it would be a problem if they got lost.. :)

With additional funding, we also have lucky draw in the choice of Milo (2kg) and also biscuits in order to make the event more lively! Its great to see everyone hoping to win something and the laughter on their face when they won. TQ sponsors again!

Kids' Movie Day @MBO Cinema - Mar 2015

This is our 3rd annual event for Kids' Movie Day. The only difference this time is that we are bringing 2 homes, and a few children from Grocery for Needy program as well. The two lucky homes, Anbe Sivam and Rumah Saffiyah were more than happy to join us and we are glad they did! As there were no nice movies around, the best available was Cinderella. We also take them Pizza Hut for dinner after the movies. Thank you to sponsors and volunteers for making a difference!
