As we are still updating the donor listing, the name list will be published within this week to update every one. This issue arise from delay of Interbank GIRO Funds transfer into our account, and sometimes the funds is deposited without notification. So, we really appreciate if you can send a note if you are doing a online transfer. Hence, i lost quite a lot off hairsssss to reconcile and perform tracking.

Looking at these happy faces, I can feel their happiness under Belinda in Rumah Kanak-kanak Angels - a well manage & maintain orphanage.

While we were there, someone are providing the home with party and was arranging the food at the open space area. Perhaps its a good day today, as there was about 6 different teams visiting the home! From cash, food & even a party! :) Feels good to know there are many caring people out there.

Belinda also informed us that there are volunteers bringing the kids for movie outing, KLCC jalan-jalan & etc. Which we think is a thumbs up idea to ensure the kids is exposed to the surrounding and keep up to date info. I notice the house do have ASTRO TV Channel - a good learning tools.

We left the place about 230pm, headed for quick lunch ....and the next location is the HELP Community Learning Centre (Myanmar Refugees)

Look at their smile on their faces......really makes me so happy....

We hope the readers of this blog can spread the love and caring hearts to the others.Thank you for reading!

Pusat Jagaan Serasu (OKU & Anak Anak Yatim)

For this visit, we went down to Nilai this time. We selected this home as it was previously visited by some of our friends' friend. We gathered at Sg Besi toll at 1pm met up with some members in Tesco Semenyih and proceed with our required purchase. (You might be bored with the same old introduction every time..but this is what really happen la..)

The location of the home is located near Nilai Giant. We took about 45 minutes to reach there and waited for the caretaker for more than 30 minutes for him to guide us to the home. Journey was a bit long today with traffic jam and waiting time, which is why we will ensure we do a pre-visit so that we wont get lost.
View of the house
No budget for sign board

The home is a single storey terrace house and is in a bad condition. Based on the information provided from the caretaker, the place takes care of total of 13 tenants, which include handicapped children, orphans and a blind old lady. They moved from Rawang 3 months ago, as most of the tenants' family are staying nearby.
The house condition is very run down, with water leaking through the water tank and bare minimum kitche necessity. We were told that rental is RM480, which we think its bit expensive for a place like this. There is not even a dining table/chairs or sofa in the hall. Its bit sad to see them sitting on the floor, idling with their eyes looking at the wall. Seriously, the tenants really need some help in terms of physiotherapy and welfare.

Leaking ceiling
Store room on the left, toilet on the right without doors and water dripping down from ceiling

They also do not have a television, and while we were there, all of them are sitting there idle on the floor. The only thing we saw is the working refrigerator. There are also no proper mattresses, beside those worn out one in the photos.

Require mattress for replacement

If you have some items to contribute, the address of the home is 8235 Taman Desa Jasmin, Jln Bandar Baru Nilai 5/400, 71800 Bdr Baru Nilai.

Updates : Persatuan Rumah Caring Kajang

After our 1st visit to Kajang Caring Home, we acknowledge Ms Wendy's request on below items:
1. Walker with roller
2. pain killer medication

We bought the items from Maruzen Pharmacy located @ 12, Jln Medan Putra 6/42D, Medan Putra Business Center, Bdr Menajalara@ a discounted rates. Ms Teow - the business owner willingly gave us some discount after knowing our intention is to buy and send to Kajang Caring Homes. Thank you! :)
As we discussed with Ms Teow on the pain killer medicine, she did not recommend the senior citizen to consume pain killer without a doctor visit and only recommending us to send the Paracetamol as temporarily pain release while pending Doctor medication.
On top of that, it come to our mind instead of consuming the medicine, there are other alternative to release pain - Plaster, oil, and cream which can also temporarily release their pain. Hence, we bought the tiger balm, minyak angin, ubat batuk, vicks vaporubs, counterpain cream for the same purpose.
One of the tenants in also use lotion due to crack skin, bought additional bottle of lotion for him.

1M1C Logo

We are happy to share the new face of 1Month 1Charity logo. Since we started many months ago, we could not really figure out what to put as our logo or a logo that represent us. But I guess it was not important as the our main objectives are to do help people, and in a glimpse of an eye, we completed 11 months of activities.

Today, in remembrance of Lai, we think it is appropriate to remember him in this way. As we continue to do what we pledge to Lai, we know he will be watching us.. ;)

Persatuan Rumah Caring Kajang

We did not do any activity in September and took the month off. To continue the momentum, we decided to do at the last day of the month.. and we are very surprised that the number of donors reach up to 34 people. Thank you people!! :) It has exactly 2 months since our last activity, and in between, we mourned the losses of our dear friend.

For this event, we have choose Persatuan Rumah Caring Kajang. No specific reasons, but based on information on the web, we would do a first time visit to see how much we can help. Again, as a pre-requisites, we called up and ask what is required, and as usual, grouped at Tesco to purchase the groceries. With the large number of donors this time, the total collection is RM1700. We divided into 4 teams to speed up the purchases.

We arrived at the place around 230pm and was greeted by Ms Wendy. The home consists of 2 houses, with the front porch merged together. Both places are rented and its good to know that the home owners waived the rental.

The criteria for the admission is above 60 years old, single and no family members. The place is well managed, and most of the old people are above 80 years old and still in good health.

While we were there, Wendy also tell us about lives of of many unfortunates in the home, from single mothers, orphans, old folks, mentally-challenged and drug addicts. The government hospital does refers senior citizens here if they are unable to trace the family members. The current home accommodates old folks (male/female) and single mothers.

Female tenant accommodation

As we were about to leave, someone drop by to do a cash donation. Its a relief that there are many people are still willing to lend a hand for the home during this time of economy.

Year End Christmas Party

Dear Fellow Donors,

Thank you very much for your donation throughout the months. Its a miracle for us, as when we initially started this in Jan 2010, we only have 4 donors! Its surprisingly that the number of donors has grown and with the higher amount we collected, we are able to contribute to more than 1 home per month, which was our originally our mission statement. Thank you all again!

As we are closing to year end, we are thinking to have a Christmas party in one of the homes (have not decided yet) as part of a celebration. With current economy climate, to avoid making a dent in your wallet, we are thinking of using credit cards points to convert to voucher. However, if you think you would like to contribute cash, it would be welcome too. We will also use partial contribution for December to buy presents and daily groceries.

Since we will be having a party celebration, we are looking into buying McD's McValue Meal for the kids, hence we strongly prefer this McD vouchers. Petronas cash voucher are welcome too, as it is part of their daily needs (petrol for transporting students to schools).

The following are the points required to be converted for the items we required from HSBC and Maybank.

HSBC Points
  1. McDonald's RMR50 Voucher - 12,000
  2. Tesco RM50 Voucher - 13,000
  3. KFC RM50 Voucher - 13,000
  4. MPH Bookstores RM50 Voucher - 11,000
  5. BATA RM50 - 12,000
Maybank
  1. MPH - RM50 Voucher - 11,000
  2. Mc Donald's RM10 Voucher - 2,000 (better deal here!)
  3. Jusco - RM100 Voucher (RM20 x 5 pcs)- 21,000
  4. KFC, Pizza Hut, Ayamas Rasa Mas RM30 Voucher - 6,000
Please inform us on what type of vouchers you are donating, so that it can help us in our planning. If we receive a lot of vouchers, we might want to spend it on a 2nd home. Your feedback is greatly appreciated as we would like to involved as many people as possible. So start putting on your thinking cap and tell us what you have in mind and put your ideas in the comment field or you want to write to us direct. The clock start ticking NOW!!! :)

St Barnabas Home and Community Center (2nd visit)

Right after Warga Emas, we goto St Barnabas Home. We need to carry the groceries to 3rd floor which is the floor for the kids. There are 3 floors, with 2 floors for the males and 1 floor for the females. The home is funded by the Anglican church.

We talked to the care taker about how the kids end up here. Most of them are from single parent. Some of the parent only visit their child once a year. The kids are roughly 7 to 16 years old. Only two of the single parent contribute back to the home. When asked how the kids feel when they see their parent once a year, they say its normal and do not feel sad. Perhaps the young children understand the predicament they are in. Its sad to see such kids at this age having this type of burden and not living in the parents' love and care.

From our previous visit, we noticed that the kids here are well discipline. When we arrived at about 3pm, it was a hot afternoon and most of them were sleeping. Some of them were in the living hall with us as they cant sleep.

This time around, we have more people to join us with kids too. We are glad to see the participation of more people and hopefully more to join us in our next trip! Thanks for the toys from the Yeo family!
